Meet Callie & Callan, the founders of Cal & Co.
We’re Callie & Callan, Austin-based designers united by a love for beautiful, thoughtfully crafted spaces that feel as good as they look.
Callie Freudenberg
A Central Texas native, Callie earned her degree in Interior Design with a minor in Construction Technology from Texas State University. She spent more than twelve years as a Commercial Interior Designer in Austin, where she sharpened her expertise in both design and project management—balancing creativity with precision and execution. After relocating her family to the Hill Country just north of San Antonio, she returned to her alma mater as an Adjunct Professor of Interior Design, mentoring the next generation of designers.
Callie’s life has always been rooted in art, design, and thoughtful structure. As a mother of two energetic boys, she has experienced firsthand the profound impact a well-designed environment can have on a child’s imagination, confidence, and sense of comfort. That perspective became the foundation for Cal & Co. She is passionate about creating whimsical yet refined spaces that inspire children to dream, explore, and grow—while thoughtfully supporting the rhythms of family life. Understanding how full and demanding parenthood can be, Callie saw an opportunity to serve families in a deeply meaningful way: by designing bespoke spaces that feel magical, personal, and beautifully livable.
Outside of the studio, you’ll find Callie drawing inspiration from art, nature, and time spent with her family—the heart behind everything she creates.
Callan Peterson
A lifelong Austin, Texas native, Callan earned her BFA in Interior Architecture with a minor in Photography from the Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD) —an experience that shaped both her technical foundation and her eye for composition, storytelling, and detail. She began her career at a large architecture firm in Austin, focusing on workplace design while gaining experience in multifamily and hospitality projects. Her experience has since expanded to include hospitality, high-end workplace environments, and building repositioning, with a focus on elevated amenity spaces. She has developed expertise in designing complex, integrated elements—from custom reception desks to bespoke hospitality bars—with a deep understanding of joinery, substrate materials, and material specification. Her life has always been grounded in design, creativity, and storytelling. After completing a nursery for a childhood friend, Callan discovered a passion for designing spaces for children—an opportunity to tap into imagination and create environments where kids feel safe, expressive, and free to grow. Tucked away in the hills of East Austin, Callan lives with her husband and their golden retriever, Archer, whom they take to Mueller park in their free time.
Together, we create polished yet approachable interiors that are elevated, personal, and detail-driven. We believe true luxury lives in the details and that great design should feel effortless, meaningful, and a little bit fun.
